I love Sport.

19 May

Not that kind of sport.

I just picked up my Winter 2010 edition of Sport, the New Zealand literary journal. I was sorry to see that what was once a twice a year affair has been reduced to an annual pleasure.

Sport is a special kind of journal. The writers it features are often not particularly well-known, but the stories are of an exceptionally high quality, and very readable. It dabbles in experimental forms without giving those works undeserved prominence over the more traditional pieces. It isn’t afraid to smash prose against poetry. It’s an inch thick and only twenty bucks. Grab yourself a copy from Unity Books on High Street.
