Get someone famous to direct it.

Let’s face it, there’s nothing terribly special about the TV spot you just wrote. So what are you going to do to make it work?

Throw some money at it, of course. A famous face might do. Even better, get a famous director to interpret it in a way you never imagined.

This IKEA spot is now close to ten years old. Had anyone but Spike Jonze directed it, there’s no way I’d be using it as an interesting example of advertising. But he did. And he saved it.
